By Toni Roderic, Chairperson Area of the Greens.
In an interview published today in Publico, «You can achieve a sustainable planet without abolishing capitalism», Monica Frassoni does a disservice both to political ecology, as Equo as the Green movement.
Firstly, because it poses unacceptable issues for environmentalism as:
Frassoni says you can achieve a more sustainable planet without abolishing capitalism.
Trusting that capitalism is able to use technology to create wealth is naive, the purpose of capital is to extract the wealth of society and nature to accumulate unnecessarily.
A more sustainable planet without abolishing the cause of the crisis? Without an end to global warming, indiscriminate logging, poisoning the air and water, the limitless consumption of energy, food and superfluous goods, the waste in rich nations and also the ruling oligarchies in poor countries …? Without putting an end to capitalism it is impossible to achieve a sustainable planet. You simply cannot, without abolishing the primary cause.
To keep capitalism means no end to the accumulation of wealth in a few hands, the shadow government of bankers and the widespread financial speculation … and wars, imperial colonial invasions and massacres, just to keep it.
Capitalism is predatory and destructive in essence, responds to the blind forces of the market and, as humanity does not get over this system, the extinction of man by climate change or other consequences arising from the system itself is guaranteed.
Corruption and plunder are inherent to capitalism. You cannot tame this system or say with good words to great oligarchies, not to destroy, not to plunder and not to exploit.
The only way to achieve a society in harmony with the planet is a radical restructuring of this, in which the production of goods is not made for a market but only to meet the needs of the people who actually exist without producing surplus for a market and further, prioritizing respect for the limits of resources and regenerating themselves rather than comfort. In such a situation there can be no capitalism, simply both approaches are in contradiction.
Capitalism is based on exploitation of natural resources and wage labour. Always looking for profit, it has developed into huge and monstrous corporations and trusts to destroy everything, destroying the planet and condemning the majority to hunger, poverty and war.
Frassoni said the TTIP with the US is not negative…
That de facto will involve the imposition of what large companies feel more organic and the probable disappearance of the small organic farmer who cannot afford the cost stemming from the necessary regulations to certify their products, and so comply with «the rights of consumers «. See case Kokopelli and seed distribution.
Lizard, lizard. With such a brutal and ruthless enemy as multinational corporations you do not negotiate: either you fight or you are defeated.
Frassoni said Cañete (PP) is given the benefit of the doubt…
What Junker says about Cañete is not credible. Junker will not make Cañete an environmentalist or anything quite like that-and those who believe that suffer from terrible infantilism- and that’s due to his history, interests, caste and ideology.
The chairperson of the European Green Party defends the ideas of ‘Green New Deal’…
I recommend reading the reflections of degrowth theorists, particularly French author Serge Latouche, who has criticized lucidly the «Green New Deal» and «Green Capitalism».
We will end with a brief overview of Ms. Frassoni, chairperson of the European Green Party (EGP). Last year, she stood for the primary elections of the EGP. There were four candidates for two seats. she occupied the fourth and final place. And she did not resign. She has been living in the European Green cushy job for over 30 years. Chaste in its purest form.
In Spain, Ms Frassoni is well known in the green media. She promoted Equo in a crooked way, by the hand of Initiative for Catalonia, against the Federation of the Greens. Omitting the name Green and accusing us of communists because we had made a pact with IU and other leftist parties. She was neither left nor right. Nor was down against the above. She said she was ahead. Now we can see it. Well paid, well dressed and well dined.
In Italy did the same maneuver as here. She wrecked I Federazione Verdi to form Green Italy. Result: the worst in the history of Italian green movement with her as the leader: 0 representatives.
